Long Service
We recognise that people who have been members of the club for a long time make a greater contribution to its operation, and take less resources. Because of this we operate a sliding scale of discounts for people with multiple prior years of membership, even if there have been breaks in the membership. For each 2 years of prior membership, a 10% discount is applied. If this applies to you, and you are rejoining after a break, please contact the membership secretary to discuss what fee you should pay.
British Canoeing
British Canoeing is the national governing body for canoeing in England. For those with home addresses in Wales, it's the Welsh Canoe association (WCA), for Scotland, the Scottish Canoe Association (SCA) and for Northern Ireland, the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland (CANI). People who are members of CE/WCA/SCA/CANI receive public liability insurance cover as part of their membership package. For those who are not members of one of the above, the club has to pay an annual insurance fee for their cover. Because of this, we give a £5 discount to people who are CE/WCA/SCA/CANI members, and who are joining or renewing as an Individual or Family membership for a 12 month period. There's only one discount allowed per family.
Application of discounts
The number of long service years is calculated first, divided by 2, and the result multiplied by 10%. The resulting discount is then applied. Following that any BC/WCA/SCA discount is applied, always provided that the resulting fee is not less than zero.
